Sheep Shearing and Border Collie Herding Demonstration, Kline Creek Farm, Winfield

Don't be sheepish; come join the flock!  Don’t let anyone pull the wool over your eyes! Join us April 12 & 13, 2008 from 10:30 - 3:30 pm at Kline Creek Farm to learn about sheep and their wool. We invite “ewe” to experience all three activities:

Sheep shearing -- watch as we dispense with the sheep’s winter coats using a 100-year-old hand crank and a more contemporary method.

Sheep herding -- see a working dog demonstration by John Seraphine's Border Collies.  John is a well-known breeder and trainer of Border Collies at Heatherhope Farm who competes nationally and abroad.  You will be amazed as you watch as his Border Collies move the sheep from pasture to pasture.

Spinning -- See what can happen to all the wool as it is scoured, carded, and spun into yarn. The Green Pastures Fiber Guild will be providing the wool processing demonstrations.

Kline Creek Farm is owned and operated by the DuPage County Forest Preserve District.  We are open Thursday through Monday from 9 am to 5 pm.  The Farm is located on County Farm Road about 1/2 mile south of North Avenue.  If you have questions please call 630-876-5900.
