QUESTION
A lamb was born today that has redish eyes-rims, and behaves as if it cannot see. I have it in a pen with its mother tonight. It is likely that it has been born permanently blind or could this be a temporary blindness?

ANSWER

I can't really tell a lot from your description of your lamb. I see that you have 500 to 1000 sheep. Have you ever seen the problem before? I am guessing that you may have a lamb with severly inturned eye lids. If so you can pop them out by puttiong you finger unde the bottom lid and pulling down. If the eyelid does pop out then that is what it is. Other than that I suggest you call your local vet. AR Cobb, Sheep Extension Specialist.
