Sheep & Goats > Breeding & Selection
I am researching wool breeds that would be suitable for the climate of the southern part of Illinois (south of Mt. Vernon). Of particular concern are the summer heat and humidity as well as such issues as fiber production. Could you suggest a few possible breeds, or is our climate too limiting? I've been looking at Targhee, Coopworth, and Romney, to name a few. Thanks.
It is difficult for me to recommend wool breeds for southern Illinois. You can talk with people from the Shawnee Lamb Pool to see what they think. I suggest that you call Walt Stubbs at 618-893-2058. AR Cobb
