QUESTION
I found a dead 7 month leghorn in my coop this morning with a large lump by her tail. I seen blood and then noticed the lump. The lump was about the size of a small marble. Please help me, I have no clue what it was from. It almost looked like an infected hair but with no feather in it. Should I treat my other chickens and if so with what?

ANSWER

I don't think that you need to treat the other chickens. I believe that it was a cyst or similar problem. Also, if this bird is walking straight upright, she could be an internal layer.
