QUESTION
My hen laid and hatched all but 2-3 eggs but left one still partially in the shell. She has moved the rest to another area of my barn. I found it and helped it out of its shell and warmed it, was peeping when I found it, and is peeping a bunch now. What should I do? Put it back with the hen or just raise it? The rest were born yesterday. Do I give it starter now?

ANSWER

I would suggest that you try to put the chick back with the hen. I believe that the mother hen should take care of it. If not, you will have to keep it separated and buy some chick starter feed for it and a heat lamp to keep it warm.
