QUESTION
what are the ways of reduction of heat stress in laying hens especially at peak production?

ANSWER

Reducing the harmful effects of heat stress for laying hens in peak production or anytime for that matter can be diffucult. The easiest way to do that in a layer facility is to ventilate the building properly. The hens need at least 6 cfm per bird. the extra ventilation will help them cool themselves due to convection. Also, the roof of the building can be sprinkled with water to cool it and help reduce heat build-up inside. Any way you can keep the air temperature at 90 degrees F or less will help. Also, provide fresh clean cool water at all times.
