Pasture Walk - Getting the Best Out of Management Intensive Grazing Systems

Grazers, Educators, Prospective Farmers: You are invited to a great educational event, where you will hear and see for yourself the practical aspects of Management Intensive Grazing by the host, Dave Surprenant, assisted by Jim Morrison, Extension Crops Educator. In addition, representatives from the seed industry: Doug Bastian, Olds Seed Solutions; Steve Wallace, Barenbrug Seeds; and, Pennington Seed.

For the first time in many years, we will walk a demonstration plot that will show the different grasses that are recommended by industry for grazing pastures in northern Illinois.

We will also see livestock at Dave’s farm. The event will be highly interactive. Do not miss it.

The event is free and open to the public. A donation of $5 to the Ag Program at University of Illinois Extension, Kankakee County is suggested. Pre-registration encouraged, but walk-ins will also be welcome.

Directions to Dave’s Farm: From I-57, take Exit #315; go north on State Rt. 50 (1.3 miles); turn right (east) onto St. George Road (E 5000N Rd); go 4 miles. Turn left (north) onto (N 5000E Rd); go 2 miles. Turn right (east) onto (E 7000N Rd). Go 2 ¼ miles. Demonstration plot will be on the left.
