Horse Pasture Walk “Managing your Grazing Acreage”

Are your pastures working for you, or is their potential not developed? Are you thinking of establishing or renovating a pasture for horses? This workshop hosted by Polly McGann will focus on the management of your horse pasture to improve the quality, yield and carrying capacity of your pastures.

The workshop topics include discussions about fertility, forage specie selection, pasture weed management, general horse nutrition and things to watch out for on your grazing acreage.

You’ll pick up ideas and practical information that can be applied and put to use in your grazing operation, enabling pastures to work for you. This workshop will benefit those looking to start a horse pasture as well as those who have had horses on pasture for several years.

The workshop begins at 9am and concludes with an optional pasture walk beginning at 11am. The fee for the workshop is $5. For more information visit the Ogle County Extension Unit at 421 W. Pines Road, Suite 10, Oregon, IL 61061 or call 815-732-2191. A detailed program brochure is available below.
