Making Pastures Work for You - Tools and Techniques

Are your pastures working for you, or is their potential not developed? This workshop will focus on some of the new “tools and techniques” to help you improve the quality, yield, and carrying capacity of your pastures.

The workshop will include a discussion of the performance and characteristics of “new grasses”, and a demonstration of IlliniGraze, a method to allocate pasture and forage. Other topics address economics, weed control, and government programs for pastures. A panel of graziers will share what has worked and what hasn’t in their system. You’ll pick up ideas and practical information that can be applied and put to use in your grazing operation, enabling pastures to work for you.

The program begins at 9 am and will be held at the Bureau County Extension office. For complete program information and registration reference the attached file below or contact the Bureau County Extension Office at 815-875-2878. Registration is $20 until March 1st and $25 thereafter, this will cover a meal, refreshments and reference material.
