Grazing by Design Workshop

Grazing by Design is the title of an evening workshop set for February 22 at the Mercer County VFW, 106 S.W. 3rd Avenue, Aledo, IL. The workshop will focus on the layout and design principles of a managed grazing system.

Questions to be addressed include: How much forage do I need and how much forage is available? What size paddocks do I need and how many animals per paddock? Where should I put water and fence? Participants will gain hands-on experience working through a managed grazing farm example. Discussion leaders will be from University of Illinois Extension.

The workshop begins at 6 pm and concludes at 9 pm. A $5.00 registration fee per person is due by February 18 to the Mercer County Extension Office, 702 SE 3rd Street, Aledo, IL 61231; phone 309-582-5106. Make check payable to University of Illinois Extension. The fee covers handout material and refreshments.
