QUESTION
I am a small breeder in Brandon, Fla..I want to pasture breed my horses, but still want to bring them in everynight to groom, feed, ect..Is that possible to do without the stallion acting aggressive towards me? My stallion is very easy to handle and is only 3 1/2 yrs old...He is very inexperience when it comes to breeding, so I am not sure how he will be once he gets the hang of it..He will be out during the day, and at night he will be brought in along with them to be stalled...Any info on this would be very helpful..I have read many articles on pasture breeding but cannot find anything to answer my question...Thanks so much for your time

ANSWER

As with most situations it all depends on a number of circumstances. If the horse is actively courting and breeding a mare I would leave them alone. When he`s with a mare that is in standing heat I`d leave them alone. Too much removing and reintroducing could cause the horse to become aggressive towards the mares, possibly even towards people.
