QUESTION
I will be traveling through Illinois on my way to Texas. Do I need a permit as well as coggins and health papaers?

Thank you, Val Inman

ANSWER

Coggins and health papers are always required when transporting horses in/through Illinois. If your horse will be unloaded onto Illinois soil you need a permit number. If you are merely passing through and have a Texas location listed on the health papers then a permit is not required.

To get a permit please have your veterinary contact the Illinois Dept of Ag at 217-782-4944
