QUESTION
I have a very gentle easy to handle yearling that I have had since he was 3mo. old. I have been doing basic round pen training with him and now am ground training him with a bridle. I have never broke a horse to ride before , but I think I can this one. All I need is a little guidance. Can you suggest a book or articles that I might read about this subject?

ANSWER

There are several good books on the market authored by some different people that utilize the resistance free training or natural horsemanship methods. My favorite is a book titled Think Harmony with Horses written by Ray Hunt, one of the first horsemen to bring natural horsemanship to the public. Another good book is Groundwork, the First Impression by Buck Brannaman. There are also many good video series' on the market by people such as Buck Brannaman, Pat Parelli, John Lyons, and Clinton Anderson that lead one through the process of starting a horse under saddle. These tapes are available on the horsemen's individual web sites or also from tack supply companies such as State Line Tack or Valley Vet
